Chapter 1: A New Start
In this chapter Siddhartha decides to leave his family and friends to become a shramana.
Chapter 2: On His Path To Enlightenment
In this chapter Siddhartha and Govinda learn how to fast, think, and wait which makes them move closer to enlightenment.
Chapter 3: Buddha
In this chapter Siddhartha and Govinda leave the shramanas and travel to meet Guatama to learn from him, the Perfect One.
Chapter 4: The School of Myself
During this chapter Siddhartha decides that the teachings of the Buddha will not help him to achieve enlightenment and he must teach himself with his own experiences.
Chapter 5: The Folk in the Road
In this chapter Siddhartha sees a courtesan,Kamala, who he wants to please her but he must give up his lifestyle and become a wealthy merchant.
Chapter 6: Learning the Trade
During this chapter Siddhartha becomes a merchant and becomes wealthy but does this only to gain the love of Kamala.
Chapter 7: The Caged Songbird
In this chapter Siddhartha becomes greedy, usually giving money to people in need but keeping it all for himself. He was referred to a songbird caged meaning he was caged by his greedy and is not able to do what he truly wishes. He wants to reach enlightenment.
Chapter 8: To Have Peace, To Be Dead
In this chapter Siddhartha he looks into the river and sees that he wants to be dead instead of become overpowered by greed.
Chapter 9: Death and Reunion
During this chapter Siddhartha arrives back at the river and becomes a ferryman. Kamala comes by but is bitten by a snake and dies. But he is left with his son and tries to raise him in a different environment.
Chapter 10: Disobedience
In this chapter Siddhartha tries to raise his son a environment that is the opposite of what he had when he was with Kamala. The son doesn't obey Siddhartha and leaves to go back to his home.
Chapter 11: Enlightenment
Siddhartha listens to the river closely and hears OM:perfection, and this is when he achieves enlightenment.
Chapter 12: Disciple Returned
In this final chapter Govinda travels to rive to seek out the ferryman who is Siddhartha and they are reunited. Govinda recieves enlightenment from a single kiss on the forehead of Siddhartha.
good titles - especially chpt 4... would have like you to expand on explanation a bit more.
